Laughter Yoga
Laughter yoga has 2 main parts.....we do yoga-laughter exercises, & we do exercises to generat the deep silence & sense of connection that is the goal of yoga. In a Laughter Yoga group session, amazing rapport & trust is quickly established between participants; People readily open up and have a wonderful experience that you can’t get any other way. Laughter Yoga Empowerment is another aspect of laughter yoga altogether: It's a practice you do in a group but also by yourself to condition yourself for to handle life's situations. Laughter is a far healthier response to many situations of duress, than getting stressed & anxious. Far healthier both physically as well as mentally, because when you laugh, your body injects a massive dose of "happy" chemicals into your blood stream. A Crazy World?
Viewed from outside, the world we live in is quite crazy sometimes! In so many ways our industrialised society has lost the plot! For example we have stopped living in harmony with nature. In just the last 100 years, we have exploited our environment so much that unless we change our ways, it will become uninhabitable very soon! ............And that’s just one fruit of the weird way we now live. Isolation is another: Community & extended family is diminished..... Stress & anxiety is rampant. Laughter is a great panacea for stress & anxiety but we take ourselves so seriously, we’ve even forgotten how to laugh. I read a study that in 1990, people (on average) laughed half as much as they did in 1970. It’s probably diminished even more in the last 20 years. |
